Route: Benken – Linth Channel
Benken (420 m above sea level) is a municipality in the constituency of See-Gaster in the canton of St. Gallen and lies approximately 5 km southeast of Lake Zurich. Benken is the district capital of the Gasterland region. The Linth Channel changes direction in the runnels southwest of the village center. Benken's local mountain is called Benkner Büchel (605 m above sea level), a molasse hill ground by ice-age glaciers. A popular destination is the pilgrimage site Maria-Bildstein («Gfrörer-Chappeli»), which dates back to a wayside shrine built in 1519.
